Charitable Giving

Find out how you can help us to provide the very best for our patients.

The Royal Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides health services for the local community and beyond. These are funded from central government taxes and the Trust always aims to provide the highest level of service and best possible care to its patients.

There are, however, many ways in which voluntary donations can provide that little bit more. These include new pieces of medical equipment, little extras for patients and specialist training for staff to enhance their ability to deliver up to date care.

To help us do this we have a charitable fund (Registration No. 1050488)

The hospital often receives donations from grateful patients and relatives as they leave after treatment. Many donations are also received from the local business community, from the general public and from local community organisations. These donations have paid for many enhancements at the hospital over the years. They include a state of the art coronary care unit, play areas for children, a jubilee garden for the elderly and medical equipment including ventilators, cardiac monitors and blood analysers.

Types of Donations and Gifts

Fundraising

The Trust has a number of fundraising projects at the hospital and donations will be gratefully received from individual donors or from the local community organising a fundraising event. Further information can be obtained from the Charitable Fund Accountant.

Cash or Cheque Gifts

Donations can be made in person to the Cashiers' Office, main entrance, Royal Bolton Hospital, or sent to the:

Charitable Fund Accountant
Finance Department
Dowling House
Royal Bolton Hospital
Minerva Road
Farnworth
Bolton, BL40JR

Donations can be given for a specific ward or department, where a patient may have received care or treatment. Donations may also be given for general charitable purposes within the hospital. These donations enable the purchase of larger pieces of medical equipment. Further information can be obtained from the Charitable Fund Accountant.

Gift Aid

As a charity we can reclaim tax on all donations under the Gift Aid Scheme provided you are a UK taxpayer. This means that all your gifts can be increased by 28p for every £1 that is donated. For example if you donate £100.00 to the charity we can reclaim a further £28.21 from HM Revenue & Customs. If you are a higher rate taxpayer in the UK, the charity can reclaim the basic rate tax and as a donor you can keep the difference between the higher rate and the basic rate of tax. There is no cost to you.

Legacies

Many people wish to leave a gift to their local hospital in their will. This could either be a fixed amount or could be part of the residue of an estate. If you would like to do this please contact the Charitable Funds Account when making or amending your will. It is important to use the correct wording to ensure that your bequest is used in the way you intended. The Trust is used to dealing with solicitors about bequests to ensure that the donor's wishes are carried out.

Thank You

The Trustees are extremely grateful for all the donations that the charity receives and can assure you that they do make a significant difference to the work within the Royal Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

If you need any help or further information about the charity please contact the Charitable Funds Accountant.
