BICs Learning & Development Academy

The BICS Learning and Development Academy offers a proactive learning and development programme empowering and engaging staff to make innovative improvements to patient care across whole patient pathways.

The Academy provides a range of learning opportunities. All are multi-disciplinary integrating staff groups, professions and grades. This learning is consolidated whilst implementing improvements across patient pathways and support functions.

It aims to:

  • Raise awareness about BICS to engage staff in understanding the need to make, and support, patient driven improvements.
  • Equip leaders and managers with greater understanding of BICS, developing the required leadership skills to support staff engagement and the sustainment of improvements.
  • Improve quality and sustainment by supporting and training participants throughout improvement cycles.
  • Develop a highly skilled core team of Lean practitioners.

The Academy delivers:

  • A core certification programme progressing from basic awareness (Green), novice (Bronze), intermediate (Silver and Gold) to advanced practitioners (Platinum).
  • Multi-disciplinary classroom based training providing a rich and positive learning environment.
  • Consolidated learning whilst implementing improvements.
  • Coaching and support throughout the improvement cycle.
  • Visits to organisations undergoing Lean transformations to gain wider insight into its application and leadership challenges.
  • Junior doctor leadership training.
