Parking

There are five main pay and display car parks at the Royal Bolton Hospital for patients and visitors:

What parking facilities are available for visitors?

There are car parks for visitors and separate car parks for members of staff and these are all clearly signposted and easy to find. Visitors can pay a basic fee for up to four hours, or they can pay for up to 24 hours. And there are payment machines on each car park with simple instructions on how to pay and display a ticket inside your car windscreen.

The current charge is;

Up to 4 hours - £1.90
Over 4 hours to 24 hours £2.50

Anyone visiting hospital on a regular basis throughout the month can buy a cheaper, one month pass from the Cashiers Office in the main entrance. This is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm, or ring them on 01204-390810 if you can't get there during these times.

The hospital car parks are well-lit, have CCTV monitoring them, and are regularly patrolled by the hospital's own car park attendants. It's their job to ensure that pathways and roads all around the hospital are kept free for traffic, buses and emergency vehicles.

They operate a warning system for parking misuse, followed by a breach of contract notice. But they are also there to help, by giving information and assisting everyone to park sensibly and safely.

There are special parking bays for disabled visitors - a blue badge needs to be displayed inside the windscreen if you use one. There is also a drop-off area outside the Accident and Emergency Department where visitors can stop to take a patient inside before using one of the car parks after this brief stop.

Please note that the car parks can get very busy. You may prefer to be dropped off or use public transport.
