Generous donation for poorly babies and children
Charitable Trust the Bradshaw Gass Trust donated £10,000 through the children's charity MedEquip4Kids to purchase children's medical equipment at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
The generous donation has been used to fund a variety of essential pieces of equipment which will mainly be used in the hospital's new Special Care Baby Unit. Items donated include two Optiflow machines, which help babies and small children with breathing difficulties, two breast pumps so mothers with babies on the neonatal unit can ensure their baby is still fed breast milk, low flow oxygen metres which deliver small amounts of oxygen to premature babies, and a new specialist resuscitation doll to help with staff training.
Lead nurse and senior matron, Wendy Duncan, met with representatives from the charity and Bradshaw Gass to say thank you, and demonstrate some of the new equipment. She said: "This is a generous donation and we were delighted to welcome Bradshaw Gass to say thank you. These pieces of equipment may seem small but they help us provide essential treatment for poorly babies, and will also be able to be used on our children’s ward. We are very grateful to Bradshaw Gass and MedEquip4Kids for their continued support."
The Royal Bolton Hospital is a specialist centre for the care of women, children and babies, and now provides a regional neonatal intensive care service for small and poorly babies across Greater Manchester. A new neonatal critical care unit has been built, and a newly expanded and refurbished special care baby unit recently opened.
