Cardiology
Cardiology Department
The department is situated on the Ground Floor of Royal Bolton Hospital between C and D Blocks.
We offer a comprehensive range of cardiological investigations for both inpatients and outpatients, including 12 lead ECG recording, echocardiography, exercise testing, tilt testing, ambulatory blood pressure and ECG monitoring and patient activated ECG event monitoring.
The department is open Monday to Friday, and offers occasional evening clinics.
Coronary Care Unit
The CCU is a 10-bed purpose-built unit providing cardiac monitoring for acutely ill patients with cardiac problems. There is a facility for temporary pacing.
C1 Ward
C1 Ward is a 25-bed mixed ward, segregated into male and female areas, and patients are referred from the CCU and Assessment area.
Pacing Lab
This is a sector facility, providing a service to Bolton, Wigan and Salford patients. It is utilised for the insertion of pacemakers and other complex devices, stress echo, trans-oesophageal echo, and implantation of loop recorders.
