Orthopaedics
The Orthopaedic Department provides a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal services, from orthopaedic medicine to complex surgery. We have established a centre of excellence, with a group of 10 Consultants providing a general trauma service and appropriate specialisation in key areas.
Our team of highly-qualified orthopaedic consultants are experienced in a wide range of surgical procedures, including the use of keyhole surgery and navigation techniques to ensure minimum trauma and maximum safety for our patients.
Following a £500k investment, we now have 4 laminar flow Orthopaedic theatres within the main theatre suite. Our modern day care facility has 2 general anaesthetic theatres and a treatment room. The Orthopaedic unit has a dedicated outpatient department, which has its own digital X-ray facility within the department.
The Orthopaedic Department is proud to have a Comprehensive Optimisation of Patients needing Surgery (COPS) service which supports surgical patients with underlying medical conditions. Once identified, patients are optimised and pre-operative assessments of inpatient and post operative needs are completed. Patients are seen in their own homes and equipment, services and aids ordered pre-emptively.
The COPS service is led by Dr S Stacey, Orthogeriatrician with support from Specialist Nurse L Patel.
