Respiratory
The Respiratory department is currently situated in L Block, but it is planned to relocate to General Outpatients in the short-term, and ultimately the service will be provided from Bolton 1.
We provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to all patients with respiratory disease, including COPD, asthma, tuberculosis and lung cancer. The department is supported by the Respiratory Function service situated in the Cardio-Respiratory department.
Our wards, D3 (27-bed male) and D4 (27-bed female), provide acute care for patients with respiratory disease. They also offer step-up and step-down facilities from critical care and for patients with non-invasive ventilation.
Consultants
The consultants are:
- Dr Brian Bradley
- Dr David Allen

and they are supported by consultant colleagues from The Christie and Wythenshawe, and by a team of specialist nurses providing a 7-day service to both inpatients and outpatients, as well as home visits as required.
The Respiratory team has won numerous awards including Team of the Year in the Hospital Achievement Awards 2011, Diamond Care Award and Best Process Improvement Project in Service & Transaction category of the national Process Excellence awards.
